
Shipowner Constantino Kochifas Cárcamo began participating in the cabotage, tourism and maritime transport business in southern Chile, generating an innovative combination for the time.
Business growth allowed the founding of Naviera y Turismo Skorpios, a milestone in the professionalization of these activities in the southern austral zone of the country.


The company incorporated the MN Don Anestis into its fleet, a major vessel with 79.69 m in length and the largest cargo capacity in the group, which with 1,200 tons of capacity more than doubled the ship with the highest capacity at that time (500 tons). During the following years, multipurpose vessels and three tugboats were added, which allowed continuing to strengthen the value proposition delivered to the industries that developed in southern Chile.
Given the maturity achieved by the different maritime businesses, the company was restructured, Transportes Marítimos Kochifas S.A., TRANSMARKO S.A. was born, to consolidate the cabotage and maritime transport business, and with it the logistics expertise of transport in the area.


TRANSMARKO is the first company in the shipping industry to be certified in ISO Standards for Quality Management, Environment and Energy Efficiency. That year, the company's strategy prioritizes the importance of technology and begins to gradually incorporate different types of satellite positioning services, allowing for increased traceability of service stages for different clients.
